Kinked ureters

The ureter is normally straight, but sometimes we can see the inversed upper ureter entrapped by the inflammation around the kidneys and ureters. You can see the guidewire along the entrapped upper ureter in the figure. In this case, a stiff-type Terumo guidewire can be helpful in some cases. Otherwise, we must straighten the ureter by the flexible ureterorenoscope and place the Superstiff guidewires. The safety guidewire should be stiff to overcome the torque force.
