History of Seoul Urological Symposium in SNUH
Seoul Urological Symposium is the first urological symposium in Korea which started from Seoul National University Hospital in 1991. It has become the mainstay of the present annual congress of Korean Urological Association (KUA) leading the academic key topics in the urological field in Korea.

A variety of surgical techniques can also be utilized to perform HoLEP. The learning curve of the HoLEP procedure is also steep and many investigators agree to the opinion that it is very difficult to overcome the learning curve in a short period of time if they do not have a professional assistant to help them.
For small prostates, conventional TURP or inside-to-outside laser prostate surgeries are available. However, the enucleation technique is absolutely necessary to perform transurethral surgery for large prostates. The Holmium laser encleation is favorable to the complete removal of enlarged prostate!!
Enucleation
Enucleation is the keyword of prostate surgery
"As a general surgical technique, enucleation refers to the surgical removal of a mass without cutting into or dissecting it."
In the prostate surgery, conventional TURP (inside-to-outside) has been the standard treatment of prostate. However, this surgery has shown incomplete resection of prostate in many cases. Recently, outside-to-inside removal of enlarged prostate, "enucleation (outside-to-inside)", is regarded as a good alternative method to the conventional inside-to-outside technique. The encleation is favorable to the complete removal of enlarged prostate and available by all the methods of monopolar, bipolar (TUEB), holmium laser (HoLEP), and Thulium laser (ThuLEP). Among them, HoLEP has been getting spotlight in the urology field.
